In the Junior College, support programmes are inclusive and holistic, which reflect the diverse nature of students and their needs.

In teaching and learning, the differentiated nature of the curriculum means that accommodations and adjustments are made within the classroom and across all learning activities to meet each student’s needs. It is important to ensure that each individual is supported to make the most effective use of the range of learning opportunities provided by attending to the most effective strategies for achieving agreed goals. Students and teachers implement a wide range of strategies, as well as flexibility of timing and approach to achieve common goals. In a classroom, all learners take a more active and responsible role in the planning, carrying out and reviewing of what is learned.

A multi-disciplinary team approach is taken when identifying the special needs of students, and can include the class teachers, the Learning Support Co-ordinator, the Head of Junior college as well as consulting psychologists, occupational therapists and speech language who visit the College. This holistic approach means that all aspects of a student’s needs can be addressed and strategies developed with the assistance of these professionals.

We recognise the importance of developing students’ social skills and modes of human interaction (the journey outward) and learning situations that extend the physical, mental and spiritual abilities (the journey inward).

Our only precondition is that students adopt the culture of doing their best! These are all balanced with a belief that adolescents will rise to the highest possible challenge placed before them.

We are committed to close and consistent communication with parents, a talented and committed staff and a positive and friendly culture.
